Minister Discovers Life of Pi
Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Margaret Beckett MP, was amongst the first in the queue to find out more about the life of Pi - a new patented intelligent timber build system launched by BSW Timber at Ecobuild (March 5 2009).
She joined hundreds of visitors to the BSW stand over the show's three days who registered their interest in the innovative new system which uses British-grown FSC certified timber from BSW Timber UK sawmills.
Following the show, BSW is anticipating brisk interest for the product from the UK's affordable housing sector - including Housing Associations, Regional Social Landlords and regional housebuilders.
Tony Hackney, BSW's Chief Executive, said: "We have designed Pi as a systematic and cost effective system, which makes it ideal for the affordable housing sector. The feedback we have been receiving indicates that there is growing demand for an innovative build system that is both commercially competitive today while providing options for the future and can be easily assembled and uses locally-sourced timber."
"Pi is a product with a very exciting future. It has been in development for a number of years. Already well proven in a number of house types showing excellent performance during construction and final results in the end product. Pi delivers the buildability of masonry and the sustainability and performance of timber."
Pi is a patented timber build system that comprises of an insulated laminated ply ring beam system and standard insulated panels. The patented Pi system will be manufactured at BSW Timber sawmills throughout the UK as well as BSW Timber Systems in Ramsgate to suit the client requirements.
